Frequently Asked Questions

Things you think about.

What should I expect in our first therapy session?

Our first session is an opportunity for us to connect and learn about you and the details of your life, your family and loved ones, and your interest in therapy. In our first session, you also have an opportunity to get to know your therapist.

What if I don’t know what to say in therapy?

It’s okay if you don’t know what to say or how to start therapy. Sometimes you want to understand why things happen. Other times, you may just want to deal with a current stress event.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.

What are the rates?

My rates are $160 for individual therapy and $180 for couples or family therapy. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and AETNA PPO insurance policies. If you are out-of-network (OON), I will prepare a superbill for you to submit to your healthcare provider.

What kind of commitment do I need to make to therapy?

I recommend giving therapy some time, so I prefer if clients commit to weekly sessions for a minimum of 12-16 weeks. This way, we can build our therapeutic relationship and create space for movement and change in your life. Learning to understand yourself is a process, not a project, and it takes time.

What are your cancellation policies?

I understand if you may need to cancel an appointment. My cancellation policy is included with your intake paperwork.

Will I have homework?

We may decide that you might find it helpful to engage in some activities or assignments outside of our meetings, such as “homework.”

Where will I meet for appointments?

I will meet with you either virtually or in person in River Forest. Street parking is available at my River Forest location, which is accessible via the CTA Blue Line/Madison St. Bus. Please message for office location details.

Heads up: I have three feline “assistants.” They are not permitted in the therapy room, but may greet you as you enter and exit.
